Ticket price includes an expert-led tour aboard our luxury motor coach, all food, and two alcoholic drinks, along with coffee service to accompany dessert. Should guests wish to purchase additional cocktails, wine, or beer it will be at the guests own expense. This tour is NOT able to accommodate special requests or dietary requirements. Because of the nature of the tour vegetarians, vegan, or people with allergies may not want to attend. The food choices are always changing, always awesome, but unable to be edited.

You’ll be transported on our luxury motor coach from Detroit’s Eastern Market to four of the city’s premier destination restaurants, where you’ll meet the chefs, enjoy the food, and learn a few secrets of their kitchens. Together with your guides, celebrated chef Allie Lyttle and award winning historian Michael G. Smith, you’ll slip behind the velvet rope for premier access to James Beard Award winners, Food and Wine Magazine “Best Chef” nominees, and GQ’s restaurants of the year. You’ll leave full from a multi-course progressive dinner like no other in a city like none other.

Why a chef and a historian?

Have you ever wondered what confit means? Or why chefs love farmer’s markets? Have you ever seen something on a menu and been too intimidated to ask what the heck it is? Or wondered why everything in a kitchen is yelled in French? Well then, this tour is for you! Chef Allie Lyttle has over a decade of culinary experience (cheffing as the industry likes to say) combined with more random food knowledge than any normal person should have. She’s run some of the city's best restaurants, been awarded, honored, and acclaimed and now she's epicly excited to share her love of Detroit and food with you as you travel, eat, and explore the best the city has to offer.

If you’ve always wanted to know where spiral sliced ham, and the Dinty Moore Sandwich were invented; who first served the “Hummer” drink; or where the largest grocery store in the country was located 100 years ago, Michael G. Smith, is there to guide your historical investigation of all things food, architecture, and Detroit. You’ll learn the answers to these burning questions, poor over architectural drawings of century old kitchens, explore historic menu items, and much more as we eat our way through our beloved city.

Because drinking and swearing come with the history, all public bus tours are a strict 21 years old and older.

The bus will meet you on Russell st. in front of Shed Three in Eastern Market (2934 Russell street, Detroit MI 48207); free parking adjacent. The tour leaves promptly at 6:30 pm. Boarding starts at 6:10 pm. Consider arriving early or staying after the tour to enjoy the bars and restaurants of the market.
