Buried in Detroit: Woodlawn Cemetery Walking Tour

$35.00

Detroit History Tours is proud to partner with Historic Woodlawn Cemetery to offer this exciting tour. A portion of the proceeds from each ticket sale benefit the upkeep and rehabilitation of Woodlawn Cemetery's historic gravesites.

From our French founding in 1701 through British rule, from America’s fight for independence through the great boom of post Civil War era, and the ups, downs, and all around of this last century, Detroit has filled its cemeteries with the industrial tycoons, labor leaders, political powerhouses, and entertainment legends who built The City On The Straight, Motown, and The Arsenal Of Democracy.

Join Detroit History Tours as we explore historic Woodlawn Cemetery in a respectful, historical, adventure into our past. You’ll walk the quiet paths and tree-canopied hallows of Detroit’s world of the dead.

Together with your guides you’ll traverse the tombstones, mausoleums, grottos, and memorials of our most famous and infamous dearly departed. You’ll see the final resting place of the auto men, pay your respects to a Civil Rights icon, and salute the man whose name is still synonymous with Detroit shopping . Along your travels you will encounter the final resting place of sports stars, music icons, brilliant inventors, captains of industry, and the soldiers, sailors, and airmen who faithfully served our nation. All the while, you will explore the architecture, design, landscape choices, and history of peaceful Woodlawn Cemetery.
